The foam is pink insulation foam from the hardware. Some weight can be saved by using craft styrofoam from a craft store. Shaping the foam is easy with sandpaper. Go over the foam with white glue and once it is dry it can be lightly misted with spray paint.
Still need to mount the receiver, ESC and Motor and spin the nose cone.
I added the panel lines with a marker before painting. Just dampen the foam-board to remove the paper to curl the radiator. The foam itself takes paint fine.
With servo and the battery installed in the 1 System pod, the weight is at 5.5 oz. 1 more ounce with motor and electronics. for a 6.5 ounce plane. I expected the weight to come out higher with the landing gear and big size of the tail. The CG should come out on the money with motor and electronics.
The rudder control is the push pull with two very fine music wires.
It would be easy to add elevator and bomb drop if you get industrious.
